As Writers, we are very hard on ourselves. We think that everything we write has to be perfect and if it’s not we feel as if we failed at writing. This is a false paradigm that we all need to break free from.
There is no failing in writing, only feedback and rewriting. Rarely, and I mean almost never, is the first draft we write ever perfect. The real magic of progress of writing comes in the rewriting process, and rewriting isn’t a one-time thing either.
There is brainstorming, outlining, drafting, editing, FEEDBACK and rewriting, FEEDBACK and rewriting, FEEDBACK and rewriting, then editing again, then publishing. At no time during the writing process is there failing or perfection.
You are not a failure. You’re a writer.
