Gamification is a fun way to hold yourself accountable to getting your work done (and, yes, writing is work). It is the act of implementing the process of gameplay into your schedule in order to ensure you complete the task.
You can use gamification in your writing process to keep yourself writing everyday. Writing is a skill that needs to be practiced in order for the words to flow seamlessly onto the page. Gamification doesn’t work for everyone, but everyone should try it if they are serious about their writing.
Here’s How To Implement Gamification:
1. Choose something you really like to be your prize
2. Break down your goal into small tasks
3. Give each task a deadline
4. If you complete your task on time, you get the prize
There is also a form of negative gamification that you could use where if you don’t meet your goal you have to do something you don’t like.
If you’re an overachiever, you can implement a bonus deal where you get double the amount of prize if you finish your task early.
