We are living in the age of information, where you can Google or Siri anything and get an answer instantly. Can people find the information that you want to share online? Are there a lot of people sharing the same information you want to?
If you have something you want to share with the world, make sure you’re an expert in it so that you have more to share with them than someone else does. You have to be better and different than your competitors, especially in the age of information. You have to be an original voice, not an echo of everyone else.
If you know you have something special to share, you have to decide on how you are going to share this information. Will you write a book? Start a blog? Start a YouTube channel? Create an app? There many different ways people collect information and you have to choose which one is best for your audience. If you’re sharing info about video game tips to teenagers, the best option would be a YouTube channel, not a blog.
If you know you have something to share with the world, you should also know your purpose for sharing it. Do you want to be famous? Do you want to help people? Do you want to make money? Do you want to improve the way people do things? Do you want to connect with people of common interests? Always know your purpose so you never get lost along the way.
After you have thought everything through, get started! You have to work at the speed of social media these days to get people to pay attention. Waiting isn’t going to help.
